This winter time is wonderful energy for reflection and observation. For some, it may be peace and connecting more with their spiritual self. Others may be ready to bring forward a great project, like a book or a new business. And some are ready to embrace a new or renewed relationship with a loving partner. Whatever it is that you want to bring forward, it is time to create the plan of how you want your garden of life to grow. Just like when we work the land to plant our veggies or flowers, there is sometimes some soil that needs amended or rocks and weeds that need pulled. Our garden of life is no different.
It begins with the vision of what you want out of your life and how you will feel once you have it. Tap into how you will feel at harvest time by closing your eyes and igniting the senses. Imagine the bounty, and what that looks and feels like for you. Now this may feel as though you are putting the cart before the horse, however it is actually creating a memory within the unconscious mind. By becoming clear on your vision, your unconscious mind will adopt it as having happened, and therefore achievable! This will help you to remember why you are doing what you are doing as you pull the weeds and add nutrients to your life.
On March 2, March will be welcoming the New Moon in Pisces. The New Moon is always wonderful for envisioning and manifesting and Pisces offers the emotional and intuitive insight to help you feel connected to the process. Using this energy, we can see the dark sky as a blank slate, waiting to be painted on. To begin, sit with your desired feelings, what you would like to feel in your everyday life. From there, you can explore what you already have that bring those feelings forward and what is happening at present to deplete them. The positive feelings are the blooms in your garden. The heavy feelings are some of the weeds and rocks in the soil.
Creating change in our lives can be a challenge. The weeds can be likened to the relationships in our life that hold us back. These could be relationships with people, addictions, negative habits or even motivation. The rocks are the symbol for the obstacles and lack of resources. During this stage of reflection, it is important to sit with the energy that we observe rather than feeling forced into action. Some weeds are actually flowers that are just growing in the "wrong" spot. Pulling a weed does not necessarily mean ending a relationship. It may just mean moving that relationship to a section of our life with better boundaries so that it can not invade the area that we are trying to develop.
I remember years ago when I planted some lemon balm in our main garden. It quickly took over and year after year would negatively impact the peppers or tomatoes that we were trying to grow in that area. Lemon balm has lots of uses, and one really does admire its resiliency. So, we have some away...okay, we gave lots away. We moved some to another part of the yard and we pulled it from invading the other plants. Now we are in a new space, planning a new garden. And, i will be planting lemon balm. But, I have a plan so that it can thrive and not impact the rest of the garden. This is how we work with weeds in our life. We explore the benefits, where it is invading our life and relocate it to another area where it can thrive and we will not feel suffocated.
Rocks, on the other hand, have a very different purpose. They may be the difficult challenges that we have been through, or even are currently going through. They often feel heavy and may even hold regret, sadness or frustration. The rocks are our stepping stones that got us to where we are today. In the past, they were the barrier between us and where we are going. However, once we find a solution to get around them, they then transform into success stories. We do not always appreciate the obstacles that we have overcome, however each of us has overcome many.
The secret of creating a life garden filled with flowers is to take the rocks, one by one, honour them and transform them into something better. For some it may be repurpose them as a walkway or garden border. Some may choose to paint the rock and make it beautiful. To translate that over into something helpful for a life garden, it may be as simple as identifying a struggle as a rock or something to move past. If we remember that everything happens for a reason, and that flowers are meant to grow in our garden, it changes the power that the rocks have over us.
Finally, looking at what we are putting in to our dreams to ensure that they are fertile and optimal. In gardening, we amend the soil with fertilizers and organic matter. In life, nutrients come in various forms. Starting from the ground and working our way up, it all starts with ensuring that our basic needs are being met. This may sound very basic, however for some it is a daily struggle. Once we have what we need, we look at how we are bringing fun and creativity into our world. From there, the relationships that we choose can either feed our soul or deplete our energy. And finally inspiration and education. Surrounding ourselves with people that inspire us and show us how to move from one point to the next can be the single most important piece of creating the life we want. And finally, trusting that while we work on the plan, the universe is also working on the plan.
Everyday has its season. Today, in the northern hemisphere, we are still in the season of winter. Spring is on our doorstep. Soon the heavy blanket of snow will melt away to expose life happening beneath the surface. There will be some weeds to tend, some stones to move and flowers waiting to reach up to the sun. You have the capacity to transform your garden and your life to support your dreams and honour your struggles. You are resilient and have so much to offer the world. Let the dreaming begin. What seeds are you planting in your garden of life?
